Phonics & Reading

At West Kirby Primary School we use the Jolly Phonics scheme along side Letters and Sounds to support the teaching of phonics across EYFS and KS1.

We do not adhere solely to one particular reading scheme, although we adopt a graduated approach and use a lot of resources from Oxford Reading Tree and Rigby Star.

We hold workshops in the autumn term about the teaching of phonics and reading of which all F1 and F2 parents are invited. We also invite parents of children in Year 1 to a presentation, in the spring term, about the teaching of phonics.

For further information about phonics and reading please contact the class teacher.
